Oat Bran = FIBER

I am trying to add more fiber to my diet, so what better way than Oat Bran, it's packed with 7 grams of  fiber and 5 grams of protein all in just 1/3 of a cup of this great stuff.  This package just happens to be gluten free, it is also sold in regular.  So for breakfast I made a bowl of this using the recipe on the back of the package, but I cut the recipe in half. I didn't want to overdo the fiber on the first day of eating it.
After cooking I poured it into a cute little bowl, added a splash of skim milk, a handful of fresh blueberries, and a teaspoon of raw sugar.  It tastes just like oatmeal to me, only finer grained, and more digestible.  You can also add oat bran to anything you cook or bake for added fiber.  I think I am onto something new, I may even coat chicken with it!

Coffee Please!

I never "got" the rage about coffee until I was in my late twenties, it never appealed to me until I hit the work place.  Now I can't live without my one or two cups in the morning. It gives me that little push to get me going about my day.  I set up my coffee bar, moved it around a couple of times since I started this blog, but as a coffee lover knows, nothing changes the love of the taste.  I have a lot of favorite flavors, but am always on the search to try new ones.  My hubby bought me a Keurig for Christmas a few years ago, that I absolutely love and can't live without. I am the only one in the house that drinks coffee, so a machine that makes a cup a time makes sense to me!

This is how I get started in the morning after feeding five cats, and looking forward to the rest of what my day will bring me.  I need to relax with the aroma of a fresh brewed beverage.  Some of my favorite pods, I buy all of my coffee, tea and other pods at BB&B.  I always have coupons to use, so discounts are great when buying.  They have a wide variety of flavors.
These are some of my favorite creamers.  Hazelnut is missing, oh my, I will have to get some more of that!  I also use Sugar In The Raw 100% Natural Turbinado Sugar, it's pure cane sugar.  I like the packets because they are perfectly measured.  This sugar also is sold in bulk, in a box, so you can also use it for cooking and baking.
 My Coffee Bar.
The large jar holds snacks for having a cup of coffee - biscottis, cookies, digestive cookies, diet brownies, those sort of things.  The other jars hold all types of sweeteners, tea pods, tea bags, and coffee pods.
Basket of cups, smaller basket of spoons, honey dippers, tea bag squeezers, tea bag trivets and my beloved Keurig.

Lighter Me

I am on this weight plan for the last 5 weeks now, and lost 11.5 pounds.  Slow, but sure I'll get to where I want to be.  I don't want to be skinny, just healthy. While I am out and about, cruising the aisles of my favorite supermarkets, I look for foods that will satisfy me and my cravings of sweet and savory flavors. Check out what I found.

Jello makes these single serve mousse type desserts and boy are they good!  Kellogg's puts out these cookies and creme pastry crisps, there are 2 to a pack, great with coffee or tea, they have other flavors too.
I have fooled the whole family with this great tasting pasta from Barilla.  And who knew they sell fat free croutons.  They're bread and you know I love bread!
Sugar in the Raw, I can't say enough about this, I love it and use nothing else in my coffee and tea.  My daughter found these True Lemon and Raspberry Lemonade water flavor enhancers at BJ's Wholesale, no sugar and all natural.
Thin Addictives By Nonni's, they have a few different flavors, mine are cranberry and almond. They are a thin sliced biscotti, crispy and tasty with coffee, tea or just as a snack.  Nature Valley Granola Thins, the bottom is covered in chocolate and they taste just like a candy bar.
Special K Moments and Special K Cracker Chips come in many flavors.  The Moments are like a candy bar, and the chips are great with fat free cheese as a snack when hunger sets in, or a bag of chips with a sandwich.
I found these Rice Rollers at Costco.  They are great to snack on, or I use them as a cereal.  I break them up in a bowl, top them with a sliced banana and pour skim milk over it, tastes great.  Wegman's has the best Lite English Muffins around.
