The Ole Switcheroo!

After cleaning out the my closet on Sunday, I switched out the curtains in the master bedroom.  I had new curtains in a bag in the closet, they needed to be hung where they belonged.  They were in that bag for about 2 months taking up space.  These are a little heavier than the cream colored curtains that were hanging, I like the new ones better, they soften the light in the room.  The master bedroom has 8 windows that need to be covered, a lot of windows and it's expensive!

I still get a lot of light though, until I pull the curtains closed.

 So I found my curtains at Ollie's, a little discount store that my sister-in-law introduced me too (thanks, girl!)  

They were only $12.99 per pair!  WOW, you can't find them this cheap per pair anywhere else, and beleive me I've tried.  With so many windows to cover, it costs a lot of money!

 So here are the old cream colored curtains and the new soft teal and cocoa flocked curtains with grommets, love the grommets, you can easily pull them closed.  They are pretty and add more color and texture to the room.

It's Curtains For Me!

Well, I finally got the room done, hung the curtains today.  Now it's on to the next project, the boys bath, I have a small hallway that has to be painted, my daughter's room, then the guest bedroom.  By the time I am done I will have to start all these room over again!.   I have to pace myself, take a break, then I will start again.  I have to enjoy a little bit of the summer.  This is how my sons room looks after the paint job, walls are still bare, decorating still has to be done.

I got these curtains at IKEA awhile ago on sale for $34.99 a pair.  They are now on sale for $27.99 a pair, but hey they were still cheap, some panels alone are $20 each. I had to hem these they only came 98" length.

So, I bought this handy dandy iron-on webbing that IKEA sells and ironed it on to hem each panel, no cutting and it was fast.  I laid my curtains out on my kitchen island. measured and marked them.  One package of the webbing ($1.99) hemmed 4 panels and I still had a bunch leftover.

 They came out perfect and it was so easy to do.  Now they are hung and look great!

Getting Ready For Spring

All the snow is almost gone, and the temperatures are inching up everyday.  We just turned the clocks ahead so the days are already getting longer, a sure sign that Spring is near.  I am already geared towards cleaning out things and freshening up the house.  The boys bedrooms are already started and their bathroom will get repainted.  Next up to be painted will be my kitchen and spare bedroom.  So, while out and about, I am finding things on sale and getting ready to transform for Spring.  I can't wait to open up the windows, let the fresh air in, and hear the birds sing!  Checkout what I found.

Grommet topped curtains for the boys bedrooms.  These are perfect for boys, they slide easy on the curtain rods, you know how they grab and pull things, the next thing you know you are replacing curtain rods! They each needed 2 pair for their windows.  Each pair was only $9.99.  I got four pair of curtains for $39.96!  At the Christmas Tree Shop.

New brightly colored tablecloth for the kitchen table in all sizes, and colors - $9.99 at the Christmas Tree Shop.  They also had matching table runners and napkins.

This 60" x 104" Ralph Lauren tablecloth was $19.99 at Home Goods.  It will go beautifully with my  planned tablescape for Easter dinner.  My wonderful sister bought me a whole set of this Cabbage Dinnerware that I absolutely love and use every Easter.  So when I come across a piece that I don't have I add to my collection.  This serving bowl was $9.99 at Home Goods.  Cute little Easter napkins - $1.99 at Christmas Tree Shop.  They have tons and tons of  very inexpensive paper products.

Some Nice Cheap Shopping Finds

Went shopping with my sister again this weekend.  She is redecorating her powder room and needed some more things. While out and about I found a few things for myself and my daughter, who is decorating her college apartment.  Check out what I found.

I hung new curtains for my laundry room today.  I bought them at The Christmas Tree Shop - 1 pair with a valance on sale for $5.99.  I also have a table cloth that matches them. That was $9.99 for 60 x 84.

Hyacinth round woven place mats.   I bought 6 for $2.99 each.  I have been looking for them for a long time. I found them at IKEA.

Also at Christmas Tree Shop - Vacuum cleaner scents 5 in a box for $.89 each and dish cloths 4 for $1.99. 

Since my daughter was in London last year she loves anything British.  I found this canvas British artwork at the CTS.  Large canvas was $9.99 and the 2 small were $6.99 each.  Not bad for college room decorating.

I have this chalkboard hanging on my pantry door.  When I run out of something, all my family has to do is write it on the board and I know what to buy at the next grocery store visit. I take a picture of it on my cellphone before I leave the house. I bought it as a mirror at WalMart for $5.00 painted it with chalkboard paint and just left it white.  Well, it was ugly, so I decided to jazz it up a little bit without painting it.  Who says only men can fix something with duck tape?
