It's A Boy! Kristy's Baby Shower

We heard the exciting news in September!  FINALLY we were going to be grandparents, and that my oldest son was going to be a father.  We were overjoyed, everyone else at the dinner table knew but us, it was a total shock.  My head started spinning, baby shower, nursery, what could I buy, who would he look like, what would his personality be like, couldn't wait for him to get here so I could meet him.  Of course there would be a surprise baby shower with lots of gifts. The baby would need everything, so both families jumped in together to plan. We needed the venue, decorations, food/desserts and a day full of family and fun. We all did it, together, and kept it a secret!  Check it all out below, this day was very special!

I was in charge of decorations.  First was the theme.  I found these adorable invitations on Zazzle.  As soon as I saw them I knew this was the theme, Tribal Baby Woodland.  Foxes, Bears, Deer, Owls, Arrows, Feathers, Tee Pees and a Tribal Baby.
I made her a corsage with the same theme. Which Kristy wore proudly at her shower.
Found this cute "Mr. Fox in Socks" stuffed fox holding 6 pairs of socks at Beau Coup, and filled this cute little red wagon that I purchased, with more socks and Dr. Seuss Fox in Socks book.
My sister (OMG, what would I do without her!) and I made 2 of these smaller tee pees for the raffle table.  I bought a tribal woodland theme, flannel print fabric, to match the rest of the decor. We used 2 dowels cut to size and twine to secure it at the top.  We made a larger one for Kristy's gift table.  Very simple to make.
Here they are on the table!
We did not want to play games as there were 60 people at this shower, quite a large crowd.  So we all agreed a raffle would be fun.
I made up two themed baskets to go along with the decor and tone of the shower.  They were calming, zen type, baskets for relaxation.  They were filled with herbal tea, a mug, wind chimes, a plant, note pads and pen with an arrow print on them, the cute picture sign you see in the front, embroidery kit to make, Heavenly Carmels candy, a candle and lavender soap.  We also raffled off two beautiful bouquets of flowers.
This is the raffle table.  There was a galvanized bucket with tickets and wood carved pencils to fill them out, for a chance to win.
We decided it would be a brunch, and the food was fabulous!  Baked Challah French Toast with Caramel Sauce, Scrambled Eggs, Omelette Station with all the fixings, Sausage and Bacon, Fresh Fruit, Homemade Breakfast Breads, Pastries and Croissants, Oven Roasted Chicken Saltimbocca Stuffed with Spinach, Sage and Provolone, Roasted Red Bliss Potatoes and Asparagus.  And of course,
the MOM-osa Bar and other beverages.
The Dessert Table was awesome!  Cupcakes, Cream Puffs, Cookies, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Dipped Marshmallow Treats on a Stick wrapped to match the theme, Colored Candy Jars, Popcorn in bright colored boxes.  The "It's A Boy" Tribal Baby banner is from Zazzle.
And these Hershey Bars that Kristy's mom made too, are so adorable.
The whole table filled with goodies.
The cake for them to share when they got home.
The tables had white underlays and dark teal overlays with light aqua linen napkins.  White lanterns on each table from IKEA with white LED candles in each one.  A bouquet of balloons tied onto the lanterns for height in the room, 3 votives and 3 smaller tee pees around the bottom of each lantern.
This was only part of the gifts, the room was full of them!
And JAXSON is his name! I wrapped and stacked 3 large boxes of diapers together, painted the letters of his name to match his room and then hung them over his crib after the shower. You'll see that later in "The Nursery" blog coming soon.
The shower favors were - mix a bag of your own trail mix.  I purchased these cute lined bags to use for the trail mix bar.  Stamped them with colored ink to match the theme.  The Tribal Baby napkins are so cute, I couldn't resist them, had to have them for the dessert table.
My niece made the sign for the "Happy Trails Trail Mix Bar" she also helped set it all up, she did a great job!

The trail mix bar consisted of themed, fabric (I used fat quarters) lined, galvanized buckets, filled with - mixed nuts, peanuts, dried cranberries, multi colored raisins, banana chips, granola, mini peanut butter cups, M & M's, pretzels and sesame stix. Each bucket had a chalkboard sign printed with each ingredient.
What a great day for the mom to be, she cried, she was so surprised and happy at the same time.  We are so glad she enjoyed her day!
